Breakthrough in Education Technology: India Launches AI-Powered Education Tablet
PUNE: The first AI-enabled educational tablet created in India will soon be given to children in schools. The EPIC Foundation provided funding for the tablets, which were recently introduced by S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
As per the EPIC Foundation, VVDN Technologies, in partnership with MediaTek India and CoRover.ai, designed the tablets with special features like reparability and upgradability to tackle the urgent issues of the digital divide and the build-up of electronic waste in India.
"We are launching an India-designed, India-inspired education tablet which will be of great use to a vast majority of students," said Krishnan, "with great pride." The young will be motivated to adopt the motto of creating things in India, for India, and for the globe."
The EPIC Foundation's co-founder and chairman, Ajai Chowdhry, and co-founder Arjun Malhotra said, "We want to build products in a way that the components are easily replaceable and upgradable." In addition to being urgent issues of the modern world, obsolescence plans, manufacture of inferior goods, and repair costs that are higher than those of buying new devices all contribute to the growing issue of electronic waste. Our reusable product will open up a lot of work opportunities for repair engineers throughout India."
The education tablet is the first of its type to be connected with the BharatGPT virtual assistant, with the aim of actively assisting digital learning. According to the announcement, it would promote AI/ML-based inter-lingual translation for Indian languages to assist the country's linguistic variety and the inclusion of its inhabitants with disabilities.
