Indians most optimistic about AI in the world: Google report
An IPSOS study for Google found that more Indians anticipate both short- and long-term benefits from artificial intelligence. Of the 1,000 Indians over the age of 18, asked, 82% indicated they anticipated using AI to improve their lives in the next five years. Seventy percent of respondents said they can already feel the benefits of AI, mostly because it has made knowledge more accessible
AI will address "the entire spectrum of development" during the next 25 years, according to twice as many respondents as those who anticipated good short-term effects, with 86% and 77% of respondents, respectively, expecting technology will enhance transportation and assist alleviate poverty. Twenty percent of Indians stated that the government's main AI objective is to develop the economy by promoting development, innovation, and competitiveness.
The nation's responders expressed a lot of optimism on AI's effects on the workplace. Eighty percent said it would be good for each person separately. Remarkably, a comparable percentage of participants from Singapore, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates shared their zeal. In India, 95% of respondents have discussed AI at work, compared to around 65% of respondents worldwide. Additionally, the largest percentage of respondents in India said they thought AI-driven improvements will be “a good thing.” In the meanwhile, that percentage was at 29% in the US and almost 52% worldwide.
A "safe" approach to AI, according to over half of all Indian respondents, is the most important requirement, while innovation was emphasized by around a third as the top objective. Indians also placed a great deal of faith in the government and IT firms to provide that. Eighty-two percent of respondents said that in order to see AI advance, the government and tech businesses should collaborate.
IPSOS carried out the poll on behalf of Google from October 19 to November 6, 2023. They used Ipsos panels to conduct online interviews with 17,000 people who were chosen from 17 countries, including India.
