Emerge Desktop
Emerge Desktop is a replacement windows shell.
A substitute Windows shell is called Emerge Desktop. Emerge Desktop will provide a system tray, or emergeTray, to replace Windows Explorer as a shell (the region where icons are gathered in Explorer's lower right corner). Moreover, Emerge Desktop will enable users to access their programs—which are typically accessed through the Windows Start button—by performing a right-click on the desktop with emergeCore. Because Emerge Desktop offers an open API, anyone wishing to create applets can use compilers other than MinGW.
