Empower plain text file editing and customization with advanced notepad-like manipulation functions
Whether used as the integrated text editor in a third-party tool like Total Commander or as Windows' default text editor, AkelPad is intended to be a quick, light, and open-source replacement for Notepad. It was created expressly to address some of Notepad's problems while editing plain text files, particularly those containing code. RTF files and other file types are not supported by it.
The installer for AkelPad offered us three options: WordPad replacement, connection with Total Commander, and standard installation. We selected the WordPad replacement since we had already intended to trial AkelPad as our default text editor. If and when you uninstall AkelPad, WordPad is immediately restored as the default text editor in Windows.
